Frequently Asked Questions About Multi-Style Cello Lessons With Me

Cello lessons are available online via Zoom or in-person for students in the Nashville area. I also offer lessons at students’ homes for an additional $10 in-home lesson fee.

For regular students, invoices are sent at the end of the month. Accepted payment options include credit card, PayPal, Zelle, and Venmo.

In our first lesson, we’ll talk about your interests, what you need help with, and your musical goals. Whether you’re into classical, commercial styles, or improvisation, appropriate materials will then be assigned along with a customized lesson plan. It’s all about making sure the lessons feel right for you!

Contemporary Commercial Music is a term used to include many musical styles that are not considered classical.
“Commercial cello” lessons, built upon foundations of Classical and Jazz, will explore more contemporary styles of music such as bluegrass, pop, R&B, rock, folk and others genres on the cello.
Topics Include:
Scales for improvisation including pentatonic scales, modes, etc.
“Comping” chords and playing bass lines in various commercial styles
Using the bow to develop rhythmic grooves along with exploring alternative right hand techniques including chopping and strumming
String amplification/live looping for incorporating harmony, improvisation and rhythmic groove on string instrument
