Live Looping String Player
Interested in using loop pedals with your violin, viola, or cello?
I’d love to connect with you!
Since 2015, I have explored how live looping can expand the creative possibilities for string players — in performance, arranging, composition, and teaching.
Over time, I have become convinced that live looping is an essential tool for 21st-century string musicians. It opens pathways for developing technique, exploring new genres, improvisation, arranging, and deepening creative practice.
Depending on the setting, I use a Sheeran Looper X, Boss RC-600, or Boss RC-30 to create original music and live arrangements of cover songs. As an improvising musician, I blend elements of pop, fiddling, modern jazz, and cinematic styles, layering textures in real time to build dynamic performances. My live looping work has led to solo performances around Nashville and in cities like San Francisco and Dallas.
In 2023, I released Cello Sessions (Live Looping Collection) — a live solo recording captured with a Boss RC-30 and UAD plugins through my Apollo Twin X interface, available on all major streaming platforms.
Beyond performance, I integrate live looping into teaching across a range of settings, from K–8 classes and high school clinics to college workshops and private lessons. Looping has transformed my approach to music education, making learning more interactive, improvisational, and creative.
After completing my cello performance degree at UCLA under Latin Grammy winner Antonio Lysy, I earned my Master of Music in Commercial Music at Belmont University. There, I studied with electric violin pioneer Tracy Silverman and jazz pianist Dr. Bruce Dudley, presenting a lecture recital and publishing my thesis Creative Practice for Classical String Players with Live Looping.
Below, you will find a portfolio of my work with live looping, from recordings to educational projects.

Thank you for visiting! I look forward to connecting and seeing how I can help you unlock the creative potential of live looping.

As part of my Master of Music degree at Belmont University, I presented a lecture recital titled Creative Practice for Classical String Players with Live Looping.
This project explored the integration of live looping into classical string education, addressing creativity in practice, improvisation, musicianship, and cross-genre versatility.

String players who want live looping to be a natural and core part of their music making process
Performers and recording artists looking to add unique, musical looping textures to their sound in a reliable way
Teachers and educators who want to use live looping as a creative tool for classes, workshops, or private lessons
String players ready to move beyond basic looping and work with more advanced systems and multi-track loopers like the Boss RC-600, Sheeran Looper X or similar multi-track looping workflows
This is best suited for players who are ready to commit time and focus to integrating looping into their music in a meaningful, practical way.

By the end of this process live looping will feel like something you can actually use, not just experiment with.
You’ll build a looping setup and musical approach that fits your instrument, your gear, and the kind of music you care about, instead of copying someone else’s system and hoping it works.
You’ll be able to:
create loops that feel musical and intentional, not cluttered or random
practice with looping in a way that strengthens groove, time, and improvisation
use looping confidently in real situations like performance, recording, or teaching
troubleshoot your setup and musical ideas on your own when something isn’t working
The focus isn’t on mastering a pedal or following examples. It’s on learning how to think musically with looping, so it becomes a natural part of your playing.
The goal is simple: clarity, confidence, and a looping workflow you can rely on to amplify your musical voice.

Alexis
"Caleb's course is absolutely fantastic!! From choosing equipment, to breaking down the artistry of looping in our lessons, to helping me plan a setlist for my first performance (coming up in a couple of weeks) , Caleb has literally thought of everything. Another beautiful thing about this program is that it is all based off his experience (as a professional cellist, teacher, chamber musician). Even more so, Caleb is SO sincere and enthusiastic about seeing his students succeed. I would (and do) recommend his program to ANY one who is interested in getting into looping. You will not be disappointed."
